Let's talk about that diaper money

Diapering is such a weird thing.

It's something everyone with a baby has to do. There is no plan B. And even when you consider how the diapering gets done, there aren't a ton of options. But for the sake of this post's title, let's discuss your dollars.

Imagine a diaper in your hand—not imagine that 6,000 times (which is how many diapers, on average, a parent changes with one child). Now, let's say you spend a normal amount on diapers (about $.50/diaper). That's roughly $3,000 a family literally throws away on diapers during the diapering years.

If you put that money into the stock market—with a 10% return—in 18 years that's $16,680. That's a lot of cash to toss into the trash.

The reality is you have to spend money on diapering. The alternative to throwing money into an overwhelmed waste stream is choosing cloth diapers, which, more or less, puts that money into a washing machine.

When you spend your money with Do Good, you'll spend about the same amount ($3,000) and that'll get you through two years—with the convenience of having someone else wash dirty diapers and deliver clean ones every stinkin' week. And then, by that two year mark, many cloth-diapered kids are potty trained already (because of the cloth).

    Hot dang.

And, when you spend money with Do Good, those diapers keep getting used. For years. People have jobs, literal tons of garbage are kept out of landfills, and you help our little business do some good in the community.

If parents want to use disposables, we get it. You will not get shame from here. In fact, we sell Boo Bamboo disposable diapers on our site! But everyone knows reuse, reuse, reuse, is the way to go.

And, when you do the math, for a variety of reasons, it makes sense.
